Lantern Light
A downloadable game
Lantern Light is a simple turned-based RPG focusing on combat, heavily inspired by games like Sword of Fargoal and Rogue. Dungeon floors are procedurally generated and randomness plays a large part in how your game will play out.
The objective is to retrieve a sceptre located on the lowest floor of the dungeon and then get out. There are also five other treasures scattered throughout the dungeon.
You get three classes to choose from: Fighter, Mage and Wizard. The Fighter class can wield most weapons whereas the Wizard relies mostly on spell-casting; the Mage falls somewhere in between.
There's an array of weapons, each more effective against certain enemies than others. You will also find armor and other items to aide you on your way.
And, yes, a whole bunch of hostile monsters too.
This game is written in QBASIC.

This is a really fun little adventure! Definitely something I'll be coming back to for quick runs. I have it on my HP 100LX palmtop too for pocketability (though it does run rather sluggish on that).
Thank you for your kind words! Glad to hear that it runs on your HP 100XL, albeit a bit sluggish. Always interesting to know it runs on real vintage hardware. BTW, there's a new version coming but it needs some more work still.
Hi, I just published a cheat sheet for Lantern Light, I'm pretty sure I missed some things. Your feedback and corrections are welcome! I love LL, I play it on my brand new Book8088.
